Work Report 4th/11th August 2007 (Page 1)

The second week long Fettlers Camp took place on the above dates. The target was to lay track from "Garbage Tip" Road to Rutters Ridge Road and the fettlers were successful in achieving that and a little more.

The track work is now half way to Oberon from Hazelgrove. There are some areas of track we have to revisit where boggy ground held us back. Once again it was an extremely well organised and productive project. The Track Manager and the Systems Manager did an outstanding job and the varying volunteers battled along to jack up the line, remove old sleepers then hand lay and dog spike the "new" second hand sleepers.

It's always great to have volunteers from outside the district. In this case Ian McNeil from E. Maitland and Karl Rummans from the Blue Mountains - MANY THANKS We take safety very seriously but in this minor scratch the first aid officer applied an appropriate dressing for the track manager. Removing the old sleepers and chipping out the road bed for new sleepers is hard work .

The camp was enclosed as much as possible to keep everybody cosy especially the ladies who prepared the food. (Harry Shannon photo) Some weary workers have a cuppa at the end of the day.
